Tokaji Runs Dry − Caroline Gilby (Decanter, June 2008)
It’s
not all luscious stickies in Tokaj – a new style of top-notch dry white is
taking hold among leading producers, finds Caroline Gilby MW.
Arriving in the town of Tokaj after the long drive from Budapest, you feel as though you’ve stepped
into Tolkien’s Middle-earth. This region of volcanic hills is dominated by the
rivers Bodrog and Tisza, which meet in the small town of Tokaj itself, and the small arched cellars that
tunnel into the hillsides only add to the Tolkien-esque impression.

Leading Tokaji producer István Szepsy (Wine Report 2008 )
Leading Tokaji producer István Szepsy has parted company with Királyudvar to concentrate on his own eponymous winery, working with his son and daughters. His plans include focusing on a range of dry wines reflecting terroir, increasing the range to 9 or 10, and working on vineyard management of Furmint to improve consistency of ripening.
